Stripe has announced expanded bank-based payment method support, addressing merchant demand for lower-fee alternatives to card payments.
ACH Same-Day
US merchants can now accept ACH Same-Day payments with funds settling in hours rather than days. Fees start at 0.8% capped at $5 per transaction β substantially below typical 2.9% + $0.30 card rates for high-ticket B2B invoices and SaaS subscriptions over $100.
UK Faster Payments
UK merchants gain access to Faster Payments for instant GBP transfers up to Β£1 million per transaction. Stripe handles the payer-facing bank redirect UX, returns structured confirmation webhooks, and settles directly to the merchant's Stripe balance.
Reduced Fraud, Fewer Chargebacks
Both methods are push-based and authenticated by the payer's bank, essentially eliminating chargebacks. For high-volume merchants, Stripe projects 15-30% net cost savings when a meaningful share of volume shifts from cards to these rails.
